#InnerCityWineRoute: A total MUST for wine lovers in the Mothercity!

Midweeks in Cape Town have never seen a dull moment. With so many great activities happening around the city during the week, who has time to wait for the weekend? A lot of Capetonians are quite familiar with 1st Thursdays. Which, for those who don’t know, is an event where all the art galleries in the CBD open their doors freely to the public. Tuning The Vine is another epic monthly event that showcases Cape Town’s rich wine heritage  – away from the outskirts and into the city!

Cape Town is synonymous and worldly famous for it’s wine heritage. However if you’re familiar with the Capetonian culture, the first thing that comes to mind when you think about wine routes is probably Stellenbosch. Well at least to me it does. And whenever Stellenbosch comes to mind, I think; large and beautiful vineyard farms, lots of green trees and a whole lot of epic scenery from Mother-Nature.

Tuning The Vine, however, gives wine tasting an entirely new look by taking it to the urban – CBD streets of Cape Town and Jozi too! I had the pleasure of being part of the #InnerCityWineRoute last year when I was still with Hashtag Radio. The concept behind it not only  displays talented wine makers in SA, but it also opens up crowds to all the best hang out spots in The Mother City. A fantastic demonstration of  local businesses coming together in creating extraordinary cultural experiences and just complete midweek fun!

How it works:

  • Buy your ticket here or get it from any ticket station on the day. See map here for authorized ticket stations.
  • On the day: After presenting your tickets, get your Tuning Kit, which consists of; a glass, a wristband and a map.
  • Finally: Tune The Vine from one venue to the next using your map as a guide.

And? Voila! You and your friends can have yourselves one of the greatest three hours of your wine tasting lives!

Check out some of the beautiful snaps that I took of the entire experience in the slideshow below. Hope you’ll enjoy looking at them as much as I did taking them! Also, watch out for the next #InnerCityWineRoute taking place in the Mother City on the 13th of September 2017.  See you there!
